Pediatric Dentistry for Allen
You want dental care for your child to be comfortable and suitable. Having the ability to use the same dentist for yourself and your children not only saves you time, but it allows you to continue a relationship with someone you trust for a long time to come.
Pediatric dentistry, just like adult dentistry, rests on a basis of preventative dental care, including cleanings and checkups. Children need instruction to learn how they are able to help prevent gum disease and cavities, both of which are quite common amongst children. Since kids aren’t typically proficient at brushing and flossing, we must use cleanings and dental checkups as an opportunity to search for indications of decay or damage and take steps to intervene if we see these issues. The earlier an issue is noticed by us, the better we can address the problem.
During pediatric dentistry exams with children, we’ll discuss various items with your child and you, including:
- Appropriate oral hygiene habits
- Potential issues (thumb sucking or tongue thrusting)
- Healthy eating habits
Instruction is a large part of what we offer to children here at Fairview Dental. We’ll also use routine pediatric dentistry checkups and cleanings as an opportunity to search for indications of potential developmental issues which may need orthodontic treatment.
As children age, they may need other services, including dental sealants and fluoride treatments. We are happy to advise and treat if the dentist feels these are needed.
